A month ago I started my internship at kaffie, immediately when I walked in I knew this wasn’t gonna be a regular internship where I serve coffee.
Sure, I had a bit of healthy stress when I was walking in, but as soon as I sat down it turned into curiosity.
Butfirst, how did I end up here?
I think everyone around me expected me to intern at a place that only does fashion or makeup marketing, but I wanted to challenge myself.
After all, this is my first internship ever, and I knew I needed to push my limits.
So, I started looking for marketing agencies in the area. Then I stumbled upon kaffie.
I sent them an email and quickly got a response. (That same day)
Before I knew it I had a meeting planned for the next day… I never thought I would’ve had a meeting SO SOON.
In the meeting I could see that Simon searched up my name and really knew what I was doing online from my YouTube to TikTok and my Instagram.
That’s when I realized: this was not going to be an internship where I bring coffee or print documents.
A few months later, it was finally time to start my internship at kaffie.
When I walked in on my first day, the Bali stories were still very fresh, and I was just quietly listening. The team had just come back from a 3-week work trip to Bali. I felt like the new kid joining a friend group that already had a lot of inside jokes. Kind of intimidating, but also my sign to open up and be myself.
On day two I was asked to present my dream internship. I had prepped a nice little slideshow (with a touch of pink and New York obviously), but I didn’t expect what came after. Based on my presentation, I got a project, the fashion project. This blew my mind. Walking in here, I never thought I’d get a fashion project at kaffie. But I guess here, anything is possible.
Aside from the fashion project, I got to dive into kaffie’s social media. I started posting fun stories and I also had to help with kaffie’s TikTok. The first thing I did? I rewrote their Tiktok bio. This might sound like a small little thing, but if you know how fast people like to scroll away, it is important to make it attractive. It’s like a digital first impression, so it better be good. Right after that, I needed to create actual content. Not just brainstorm over ideas, but actually film, edit, post the videos. My first TikTok went live, what I loved is that it wasn’t perfect, it was about creativity and working together. I also started posting daily stories on kaffie’s Instagram. I’ve donestories before on my own social media, but this felt different. More thoughtful. More professional. I really had to think about the visuals, timing, consistency… it challenged me in the best way, soon my head was overflowing with ideas.
Then came the reel. I filmed it, edited it, and posted it myself. Again, what stood out was the amount of trust I was given, no one was standing over my shoulder saying “do this, not that”. I was encouraged to take initiative and just go for it, film whatever, whenever. If something isn’t perfect? That’s totally okay. You learn, adjust, and keep going. At kaffie, giving up isn’t part of the team. That freedom made me feel like I wasn’t “just an intern”, I was part of the team from day one.
What also really stood out to me? Lunch. Seriously. Every day, the whole team eats together, and I don’t just mean sitting in silence and eating.
Real conversations happen, real laughs, everyone can be themselves. That’s what made it easier for me to open up, and be a part of the team, even if I'm still getting used to everything.
And now… five weeks later, It’s already my last week. This Thursday, my internship ends and wow, time flew by.
Looking back, I can honestly say I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
From making TikToks and rewriting bios to sharing my ideas during brainstorm sessions, I’ve learned so much.
What I’ll take from this internship? That daring to try isn’t as scary as it seems.
At kaffie, I felt seen, trusted, and encouraged to take my time and deliver real work.
To anyone wondering if they’ll fit in somewhere? Sometimes you just have to go for it. Don’t stress too much and the rest will follow.
I want to thank kaffie for the trust, the laughs, Bali stories and jokes, the amazing lunch breaks and most of all, for believing in me and my work.
This wasn’t just a regular internship. It was an adventure I’ll never forget.
